Frequently Asked Questions

How does the CAST CURTAIN work?
The CAST CURTAIN "Stick it out – keep it dry!" approach works by providing the ability to keep your limb outside the shower while you're inside. Our unique flap and seal combination delivers highly effective protection from both high pressure and low pressure water spray. You're able to get clean without worrying about your injured limb getting wet.

How do I use the CAST CURTAIN?
Using the CAST CURTAIN is easy. Detailed, step by step instructions are provided with every CAST CURTAIN but here are the basics. First, install it as you would any shower curtain liner with the flap located on the inside and close to the showerhead. Second, raise the flap and insert your injured limb through the opening. Third, shower up. Finally, remove your injured limb and get on with your day!

I need to shower ASAP – how long does it take to ship?
The CAST CURTAIN can ship overnight if the order is received by Noon Mountain Time. You can also choose 2-3 day ground shipping if you want to save a few bucks on shipping cost.

Will the CAST CURTAIN last until I've recovered?
The CAST CURTAIN is designed to last the full length of your recovery. Most broken bones and incisions require an average of 4-6 weeks to heal. The CAST CURTAIN can be used for injured limb water protection during that recovery period and can continue to be used as a traditional shower curtain liner for as long as desired after your recovery is complete.

Why is the CAST CURTAIN better than a cast cover?
There are a variety of reasons why the CAST CURTAIN is better than a cast cover:
• Easy to use - because the seal area of a cast cover is exposed to high pressure water spray, it has to be extremely tight in order to work. This means a very small diameter opening that is hard to get over your injured limb.
• Promotes blood flow – because of their small diameter opening a cast cover cuts off blood flow to your limb causing uncomfortable pins and needles.
• Enables airflow – an enclosed cast cover doesn't offer any airflow around your limb resulting in sweating during use.
• Dual function – the CAST CURTAIN works as both water protection for an injured limb and as a shower curtain liner.
• No need to dry or store - a cast cover has to be dried and stored after each use. The CAST CURTAIN dries and stores in place so you can quickly get on with your day after showering.

Why do I need to keep my injured limb dry?
Casts are easily damaged by water and many other injuries require protection from water due to the increased risk of infection or impact on healing that results from water exposure. In fact, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons' Web site recommends the purchase of waterproof shields to keep your cast or splint dry while you shower.

Does the CAST CURTAIN contain any latex?
No - the CAST CURTAIN doesn't contain any latex. It's constructed of synthetic isoprene (imitation rubber) and PVC. So there's no concern for anyone with a latex allergy.
